Heather Breen
Heather was born and raised in Northern Ontario, Canada. She comes from an endurance sports background - running, biking, rowing – anything long and hard was her favourite! Being physical, and out in te Taiao (nature) has always been her happy place. She stumbled upon CrossFit in 2013 and this was the beginning of the most wonderful journey that continues to play a huge role in her life to this very day.
Over the last decade, Heather has literally poured her heart and soul into learning everything she could about Movement, Nutrition, Sports Performance, Recovery, Health, Wellness…. Attending every CrossFit certification she could find, becoming a qualified Nutrition Coach, travelling all over the world with her key mentors and learning directly from them. Heather got immersed in competitive CrossFit and reached the podium at Nationals - all the while coaching private clients, groups, running seminars and workshops, providing keynote speaking to organisations and charity events.
Throughout the years, Heather continued her formal studies gaining a Certificate in Personal Training, along with achieving a Diploma in Kawa Oranga – Sports Science and Māori Health Promotion. Teaching people how to move was the first piece of the puzzle – now using her hands to effect change was the natural next step. Thus, her journey naturally wove into mahi tinana through attending various wananga (courses) in traditional Māori healing such as Mirimiri and Cultural Therapy through Wairua (spiritual) healing modalities. Heather has extensive experience in Deep Tissue and Relaxation massage, along with experience in Reflexology and Microfascial Release.
Heather and her partner work full-time in their Health and Wellness business, ‘The Lifestyle Block’, located in Central Otago. Teaching and empowering others is her one true purpose in life! She looks forward to working alongside you in your journey.
